Gone

Andrew is gone. There are vacuum marks untouched in the carpet, no shoes to trip over and no towels to wash by the dozens. I miss him. Sooooo this should free up some extra time to start blogging again. I guess I'll start with last week. The family took a little trip to Utah to take Elder Hollis to the MTC. A Hollis tradition to go through a session at the Salt Lake temple was the highlight for me. Craig got sick so Andrew and I went together. A beautiful experience I will never forget.

THE CURB

No more wonderful experience at the MTC for families, just a quick drive-by as you QUICKLY drop them off.

Andrew Craig Hollis (my baby), I will miss you with all my heart but there is no better place I would have you be right now. Missions are the greatest program of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. You will be a man when you return with invaluable lessons learned. You will have been a representative of the Lord sharing the great message of the restored Gospel and ready to start a new life of service in the Church.

We pray for your safe RETURN WITH HONOR in two years.

Eagle # 3

As I get older I appreciate more and more the wonderful children I have been blessed with. 3 fine sons have worked hard to earn the rank of an Eagle Scout. This past week Andrew received his Award and even though there has been some major nagging involved I am so proud of him and this great accomplishment. I recently got called into scouts and believe it or not it's my first time. I don't know with 3 boys how I managed to never serve in scouts but it really is a great calling. When I bought the new Wolf book, Andrew and I got a big chuckle when reading some of the requirements for a new 8 year old scout.

Boy, these were the "simple" days. The scouting program really has helped mold my boys into fine young men. I'm so grateful for all the leaders who took an interest in my 3 sons and I hope I can help some fine young men get their WOLF badges.

My Mom is amazing! It is tradition that when her grandsons get their eagles she makes them a flag cake. This was cake #11. She is the best grandma and always so willing to be a part of the boys special day.

Bad Blogger

I'm finding the spaces between my posts are getting farther apart. I guess not much to blog about. I do have a few projects to share. At out last quilt group I had a table topper I made for my Mother-In-law, a fun Valentine topper that used up some of my red and white stash, and a easy purse that I made as an example to teach a class at church. I love all the easy projects that whip up fast. (Unlike the strip quilt i'm working on now). I also finished a quilt that had been done for a couple of years except for the quilting. I put brown minkee on the back and gave it to Andrew for his 18th Birthday. It is super warm and snugglie and very boyish with all the fun earthy plaids. My mom did an amazing job quilting it as always.

This is a Buggy Barn pattern that is going to use up some of my scraps. Now I only have 40 more block to go. WHAT WAS I THINKING. Oh well, some of my friends are joining me in this little project.
